MCM Product Spotlight
It is hard to believe the MCM team is entering its fourth year of racing. Like any sport, racing has its own set of specialty items marketed towards drivers and their crews. There are also skilled professionals offering their services to go with many of the products. Our journey exposes us to a wide variety of products, fabricators, services and a bit of snake oil from time to time. The MCM Spotlight is an attempt to capture our experiences – good and bad. We will do our best to remain objective and fair. But, at the end of the day – we call ‘em like we see ‘em.
If you have a product or service you would like the MCM team to review and publish on our website, send me an email (anthony@madcowmotorsports.com) and we will consider it. Having given that invitation, let me also say that MCM has very high expectations of anything that touches our race cars. After all, it is our butts (and lives) strapped in the seat.

Item: Legends Dashboard |
We are beginning the Mad Cow Product Spotlight with Mike Gwaltney, owner of CMG Enterprises. Over the past three years we have thrown a few curve balls at Mike by asking him to fabricate pieces of equipment that we designed. Or, we have told Mike what we “kinda-sorta” had in mind and asked him to come up with something. Mike has never let us down and seems to always exceed our expectations – and that is not easy to do around MCM. Mike’s latest piece of racing wizardry is a cool looking NASCAR-style dashboard. We first saw this in a car that Mike built last year for Brian Curry. We liked it so much, we decided to have Mike fab up a couple for our cars. I ordered mine in black and Will ordered his in white. I am convinced I could ask Mike for tye-die and he would find a way to make it happen. That is just how Mike is. Not only do these dash boards look cool, they also move the switches closer to the driver. Since Will and I are both over 6’ tall, we sit waaay back in the car. Sitting that far back made it difficult to reach all of the switches while belted in the car. Once again, CMG Motorsports solved the problem. The other thing we especially like about Mike is his attention to detail. Mike does not simply mass produce an item, ship it to his customers and then wish them luck installing it. Mike always follows up with us either via phone or email to make sure we are 100% happy. There have been times when we were not 100% happy and Mike made it right EVERY time. When possible, we have Mike do the installation himself because he installs it just how we would, provided we had Mike’s talent – which we do not. Mike designs, fabricates, and sells many racing related items. Be sure you will see other CMG products in upcoming Mad Cow Spotlights. We invite you to check out his website for yourself and promise you will not be disappointed in what Mike has to offer. Thanks Mike for a job well done, again. |
